At South Shore Adventures, safety is our number one priority.
Our highly qualified, hand-picked staff receive over 200 hours of formal training in Canopy Tour operations and safety techniques before leading tours.
All groups or individuals are instructed by our professional English speaking staff regarding how to put on the harness, latch onto the cable, and brake (in case you want to slow down while zipping along the cable). Safety measures are discussed as well before connecting to the cable lines.
You are under the constant care and supervision of our friendly staff, who are happy to accompany you in tandem throughout the zip line until you are ready to try one of the lines yourself!
You are equipped with a high-tech harness, gloves and a helmet to ensure your safety. We use the highest quality equipment that is available on the market today. This equipment is rigorously inspected and constantly maintained so all you have to think about is FUN!
Our zip lines include double cables designed by expert engineers, to make this thrilling adventure one of safest available to tourists on Roatan. One cable is used for attaching your harness and pulley for easy gliding from one platform to the other. The second cable is simply for attaching emergency clips.
Between the two cables they are able to handle 18,000 – 20,000 lbs of pressure. We also use double caribeaner hooks with a twist and turn lock that prevents any accidental unlocking during the glide. The maximum length of a cable is 1300 ft and the highest point is over 100 ft.
South Shore Adventures receives annual inspections and certification from ACCT (Association of Challenge Course Technology).
ACCT is “an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited standards developer for the global challenge course, aerial adventure park, canopy tour, and zip line industry.”
South Shore Adventures takes extra precaution to be insured and certified by Seguros Del Pais due to the high number of tourists annually performing this activity.
If you have any questions concerning your safety, please do not hesitate to contact us.
